Happy Earth Day!

Hello friends,

Thank you so much to everyone that attended yin class last night! Yin yoga is used to restore connective tissues in the body. This yoga practice incorporates specific poses to target joint health, facilitates letting go of tension held in the body, and encourages stillness to balance our busy day to day lives. Yin yoga is a great tool to invite in the sense of grounding.

With the excitement of this new beginning, I have leaned into the importance of grounding. As a naturally optimistic person, I tend to embrace change with excitement and energy. Often this energy can burn up far too quickly. Hello chronic burnout! 😊

The solution – root to rise. Intentional grounding practices offer a sustaining energy that carries us through when the newness and excitement wane. My personal definition of grounding is feeling powerful, present, and protected.

Noticing how I am fueling and moving my body is key to feeling powerful. With time and intention, I am beginning to really feel the difference between fueling up with coffee and sweets versus nutrient dense meals and snacks. Similarly, I am aware of which types of exercise serve me. Note - you are likely to still see me in line at Burgie's and miss me at Farrell’s from time to time. 😊

As an optimist, my mind loves to live in future possibility. This focus on the future quickly turns into a task list required to make that future a reality. Did I mention burnout? 😊 Bringing my mind into the present moment is essential to feeling mentally grounded. Practicing yoga and meditation help me charge up mentally by enjoying where I am rather than planning for the future.

Although I generally embrace change, it can be scary! What if this idea fails? What if I am not cut out for this? I have found spending time connecting to the feeling of universal protection is my best medicine for fear. My yin yoga practice provides time to tune in to my internal experience and intuition.

Questions to consider (better yet, grab a journal):

  • What does it feel like in your body, mind, and spirit to be grounded?

  • How do you connect to the present moment?

  • What ways do care for yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally?

If you would like support in creating your definition of grounding, schedule an initial consultation and class! I look forward to partnering with you in this journey.

Sending light and love,

Chelsey
